Welcome to FireShed - Open Source volunteer Rural Fire Brigade station management software that is now being successfully used by around 100 Brigades across Queensland, elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand.
FireShed software is an ongoing work in progress and has been since 2003. It has been written by Steve Davis primarily for the Mudgeeraba Rural Fire Brigade, Gold Coast, Queensland. Following a complete re-write during 2007 it is now available for use by other Brigades.
Note that it is not supported or endorsed by the Qld Fire and Rescue Service (but I wish they would).
It is now possible to use FireShed online instead of on your station computer. It is secure and password protected and you will access it at something like YourBrigade.FireShed.com. This is available for a nominal setup fee and $0 ongoing.
When you try the demo, you are using the online version of FireShed. The application code is shared by all hosted brigades but each has its own database to keep info private and secure. Note the user name and password for the demo are both demo.
Feel free to have a play with with the demo version including changing data. The demo database will be reset regularly so any changes you make will eventually be lost.
If you are interested in using FireShed at your brigade: Be sure to register so I can keep you informed of updates etc. Then download, install it and use it. Be very clear that if you don't register I don't offer support as you won't hear about updates.
FireShed is now very stable and since being mentioned in the Bulletin (above) is in use by a rapidly growing number of Brigades around Australia and New Zealand.
Copyright © remains with Steve Davis. If you are a commercial or government organisation you must obtain a license to use this software. License fee, if any, will be negotiated.
